Welcome to PFIR Forums. Before using this board for the first time, please take a few minutes to read over the general help instructions.

All discussions on this board are moderated. Submitted messages will not appear until and unless they have been approved by a moderator, who will evaluate messages based on their relevance and quality. Rejected messages will normally not be acknowledged, unless the moderator has specific suggestions that would make a given message acceptable. Moderators may edit submitted messages to correct obvious formatting, punctuation, or spelling errors.

Due to posting abuses, the ability for unregistered users to post messages has been at least temporarily suspended. Please register if you wish to submit messages in any category. Please note that you can still send any given message as "anonymous" by checking the appropriate box on the posting form after logging in. Thanks for your understanding of the necessity for this posting policy change.

Registered users also have access to additional functionality, including e-mail notification and delivery of newly posted messages, and more. If you choose to register, please look over the various profile options and set them to your preferences.

You can register here. Please note that attempts to register with e-mail addresses using "challenge-response" anti-spam systems will be unsuccessful -- the manual administrative burden is simply too great.

By default, your actual e-mail address is not displayed as part of your profile or with your posts. If you are not overly "spam sensitive" you might consider changing this profile setting so that other users can see your e-mail address in your profile and contact you directly as appropriate.

Participants may create new discussion subtopics ("threads") if a "Start New Discussion Thread" selection choice is present. These must be approved by a moderator.

You may use various common html formatting and linking directives in your posts (as long as the "Enable HTML code in message" option is left checked). However, due to security and page format considerations, not all possible html directives will be processed. The board also supports the use of a very rich array of display formatting (including links) via its own formatting tags.

Please do not use both standard html directives and board formatting tags in the same message -- attempting to use both may cause unexpected formatting results. Please always inspect the preview output carefully on all posts, especially when html directives or board formatting tags have been used.

When using the message text input box to post a normal message on the board, best results will be obtained by not entering newlines except when explicitly needed to create specific line breaks or blank lines between paragraphs (the html <br> and <p> directives should not be used for line formatting in the text input box). The board will automatically fold input lines as you type -- this allows the board to automatically maximize line lengths in the posted messages.

This board uses first-party (local server) cookies for login and other board control operations, but not for any other purposes. It is not necessary to accept cookies to simply read messages. However, for most other functions not having cookies enabled may result in the necessity of repeating various input, and other side-effects. Javascript is used by this board for specific enhanced display purposes (e.g. "new message" flags), and some profile management functions, but is not required for most routine board operations such as reading or posting messages.

All materials submitted to this board should be suitable for viewing by the general public without restrictions. The submitted or posted messages and their included statements, opinions, or other text; user profile information; and other materials residing on or sent through this discussion board; along with any included links or other associated data, etc.; are the responsibility of their individual authors.

If you have any questions or problems regarding board operations that are not answered in the online documentation, please contact forums-admin@pfir.org.

We hope that you find PFIR Forums interesting and useful. Thank you very much for your participation!
